Fixing our economy

Here is the message that we are going to append:

Crumbling bridges, inadequate bike lanes and sidewalks, over-crowded subways, infrequent trains. All are evidence of a transportation system that's behind the times.

Well, Congress right now is working on proposals for an economic recovery, and they're figuring out where all the money is going to go. So I wrote my representative and senators and told them to use the recovery bill to invest in building a 21st Century transportation system. If we invest smart, building clean, green infrastructure will put millions to work and lead us on a path toward energy independence.

We need to make sure that Congress fixes what's broken, preserves existing transit jobs and service, and promotes a clean, sustainable, green infrastructure.
