URGENT: Stop the Raid on Transit!

In light of the agreement reached in the Senate Friday night, we're asking supporters to hold their calls. Find out more updated information here. You can also follow us on Twitter or stay updated with the campaign blog. We'll have updated information there throughout next week as the Senate and House conference on the stimulus package.

Right now the Senate is debating a proposal to slash $3.4 billion in transit money from the economic recovery package. Our senators are about to sign their names to this blank check for highways we don't need. We must stop this raid on smart and clean infrastructure TODAY.

Making a difference is easy. Here's all you need to do:

  1. Call 202-224-3121 to reach the Capitol Switchboard. Ask for your senator's office, OR, you can tell them where you live and they can connect you to your appropriate senator.
  2. Tell the staffer who answers that you're calling to OPPOSE any transit funding cuts from the economic recovery package. The bill already doesn't include enough support for transit systems facing budget shortfalls, layoffs, and service cuts. If highway spending is increased, transit spending must be increased to match - not cut!
  3. Dial the Capitol Switchboard again and tell the same thing to your state's other senator.

The switchboard has been at high volume all day, so don't give up if you don't get an answer -- please keep trying!

Then, help us keep a tally of the calls by using the form below to tell us how your call or calls went. Thank you again for your activism on this important issue.
