The transportation sector consumes nearly 70 percent of the nation’s oil and emits almost 30 percent of our country’s greenhouse gas emissions. Cleaning our transportation system will not only reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption, but will help create green jobs, foster healthier communities, and provide people with more convenient, lower cost transportation choices.

1. Call the Congressional Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to speak to your representative's office.
2. Tell the staffer who answers the phone that:
   • You are a constituent and a supporter of the Transportation for America coalition.
   • It would be a mistake to unravel the good work Congress has done in the energy bill by failing to address climate in the transportation bill.
   • That's why you encourage your representative to sign on to the "Dear Colleague letter" to Chairman Oberstar being circulated by Representatives Blumenauer, Sires and Capuano in support of building a clean and efficient transportation system.
