The future of high-speed rail development in America took a serious blow last week when the Senate put only $1.2 billion in their transportation budget for high-speed rail — though the House requested $4 billion in their version of the budget.

High-speed rail is exactly the kind of investment we need to be making right now. Efficient transportation like high-speed rail will make our air cleaner, reduce our energy consumption, connect our metro areas, and create tens of thousands of quality American jobs.
