Climate crisis town halls: will transportation make the stage?

Transportation and climate change are intertwined

Tonight CNN is hosting seven hours of back-to-back "town halls" with each of the top 10 democratic presidential candidates focused specifically on climate change and their plans to tackle the issue.

Climate change has broken through as a top-tier issue that voters want to hear about—hence this town hall marathon. But there's little understanding of how transportation impacts climate change beyond talk of electric cars, even among policy makers.

We put together 10 questions that each presidential candidate (from any party) should have to answer like "how does your plan to respond to climate change allow people to make fewer and shorter car trips?"

Each of our questions go beyond talk of electric vehicles and shiny new technology to get at the real issue: land use, development, and transportation policy that focuses on high-speed vehicle travel above all else.

Read the 10 questions for yourself. And if you're watching any of the town halls, see if you hear any of them come up.
