An infrastructure conference in our backyard
Making the case for policy reform when all anyone talks about is money
Infrastructure week starts in 10 days. While most others spend the week focusing on how much money we should pump into the existing system or some as-of-yet-undefined infrastructure plan, we'll be using the occasion to make the case for federal policy change—which directs how money is spent.
Repair Priorities 2019 will be a key part of that. Transportation for America Director Beth Osborne will be sharing the findings of that report on Tuesday, May 14, the day Repair Priorities will be released, during an infrastructure conference full of C-level executives and high ranking public officials here in Washington, DC.
This forthcoming report will use the most recent data to show how state DOTs—and the nation as a whole—are largely ignoring pressing repair needs despite the rhetoric about needing to "repair America's crumbling roads and bridges."
Why? Because our policy does nothing to require or even incentivize spending on repair. No amount of money will fix that.
Beth will make the case for reform at the P3 Policy and Delivery Leaders Summit in Washington, DC, a two-day conference focused on public-private partnerships (aka P3s).
