Dear Friend,
Thank you!
You are one of thousands so far who sent a letter to USDOT urging them not to prioritize vehicle speed above almost all other criteria on all types of roads and streets.
The comment period closes this week. Can you help generate more letters here in the 11th hour by spreading the word today via email or your social networks?
You're helping deliver a strong message to USDOT about their proposed rule for measuring congestion: Streets that move a lot of people should never be considered unsuccessful, even if they don't necessarily move a lot of cars.
Help spread the word before the comment period closes.

USDOT is proposing new rules for how states and metro areas would have to measure and address congestion.
As currently written, their proposal prioritizes vehicle speed above almost all other criteria and completely fails to consider people taking transit, carpooling, walking, and biking — counting only vehicles.
It makes driving fast the ultimate goal of our transportation system, regardless of what type of road or street you're on. Should driving fast be the highest priority on main streets where people go to shop or sit and eat at an outdoor café? Should moving cars quickly be the top priority in residential neighborhoods where children might be biking or walking?
Streets that move a lot of people should never be considered unsuccessful, even if they don't necessarily move a lot of cars.
Tell USDOT to change this proposed rule:
