Help us make the transportation authorization bill as strong as possible

Today, May 8th, the members of the House-Senate conference committee for the transportation reauthorization bill will meet for the first time to begin their negotiations. Whatever they agree to will either become the basis for the new transportation authorization bill or would likely be the starting point for policy negotiations next year in the new Congress. Either way, Transportation for America is working to ensure that any bill that comes out of the conference committee is as strong as possible, and we need your help.

If you live in a state with a member of Congress on the conference committee, please contact that office and let your representative(s) know that you want them to support strong transportation policies. You can download this template letter that reflects T4’s policy priorities that you can edit and send in to offices [login: t4apartner; password: tea4usa08]. This letter contains template language on the policies T4America believes will need to be defended through the conference process. Please call your member’s office as a follow-up to your letter to reinforce your main priorities.

We are also providing template media materials for your use. Please download template letters to the editor that you can edit and submit to your local newspaper. Template op-eds will be available later this week, as well as a backgrounder on T4America’s five priority policy areas in the conference committee. Talking points about the conference committee are also now available on the partner website [login: t4apartner; password: tea4usa08].
