Transportation Vote 2012

Do you work for a non-profit organization and want to raise the profile of transportation issues during the election but are unsure of the legal do’s and don’ts?

Join Transportation for America’s free online presentation May 17 at 2 p.m. EDT,Transportation Vote 2012: Legal electoral activities for non-profit organizations where we'll have legal experts explaining the types of electoral activities that 501(c)3 non-profit organizations can legally engage in, providing all of us with valuable knowledge that can help us sway elections in our areas.

Email Heather Brutz today to RSVP for this free presentation.

What is Transportation Vote 2012?

Nearly three years after the federal transportation program expired, Congress only now is negotiating a bill that can be sent to the President. We are working with our partners to help make any bill that emerges as smart as possible, but there’s every reason to believe the serious decision-making will be put off until after this year’s election. Meanwhile, in this electoral season, communities across the country are preparing to vote on the people, plans and projects that will set the tone for progress in the months and years to come.

That’s why we're launching Transportation Vote 2012, an initiative to help voters, advocates and candidates learn about issues and keep abreast of transportation-related campaigns as they unfold.

We will offer a series of online presentations, including interviews with experts and lessons we've learned, that will help individuals and non-profit groups talk about transportation effectively; engage in educating candidates around transportation reform and infrastructure investment; understand why and how local transportation ballot measures are winning at the polls; share inspiring success stories from other communities; and profile local leaders who are showing Congress how it’s done.

This first Transportation Vote 2012 online presentation is coming up on Thursday May 17th at 2 PM EDT, so save the date. It's free and open to the public. For this first event, we're going to talk about the types of electoral activities that 501c3 non-profit organizations can legally engage in. Abby Levine, of the Alliance for Justice, will join us and discuss the sorts of electoral activities you can do, as well as how you can do them and remain in good standing as a 501c3 organization.

We'll have a link to register soon, but for now, email Heather Brutz (heather.brutz@t4america.org) to RSVP for this online presentation.

Please watch your emails for information about our other upcoming interactive presentations, discussions and other coverage as part of Transportation Vote 2012. Sincerely,
